Brief History:

M.V. Qing is a luxury liner/ passenger vessel arrived at Mormugao Port in January 2014 and occupied the present berth JSW Mormugao Port Trust - Goa. Owners had an intention to after short sailing/ tour at sea to the tourists at Goa.

However, the vessel did not come into operation and due to lack of maintenance and continuous contact damage with the jetty vessel lost her watertight integrity. This resulted in flooding its compartments on 29 June 2016 and got grounded in a water depth of 1 1m alongside berth with 350 tons oil on board. Reportedly, owners stopped responding to Port Trust requests to float the same and conduct repairs for further usage. Finally, port trust approached High court at Mumbai and auctioned the vessel on "as is where is" basis. The vessel was then bought by M/S Shri Laxmi Scrap Traders and appointed M/S Kanishka Salvage and Under Water Services Pvt. Ltd. Goa for re-floating the vessel.

Oil was pumped out and the vessel was re-floated on 05—05—2018 and berthed alongside WlSL jetty in an upright stable floating condition.
